Multimedia & Podcasting Intern
Job description: The multimedia intern in the IU Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President must be a naturally inquisitive person with an interest in storytelling. Intern will be responsible for segments of the Class of 2020 Project, a documentary film focused on the lives of 12 students. As part of this project and IU is Home video shoots, intern will schedule interview and b-roll shoots, including daylong “day in the life” segments; transcribe video interviews, using the material to generate blogs; and thoroughly document all collected material through the established archiving system. This intern will also have responsibilities for the following podcast projects: (booking and/or interviewing guests, running sound/recording, light research, editing) Through the Gates and The Sample podcasts and Stories from Home. Previous experience with podcasting a plus, but not a necessity if applicant has a strong interest in storytelling and an eagerness to learn. Excellent writing skills, inherent creativity, and graphic design skills a plus. Necessary: superior time management skills, some weekend availability, the ability to work collaboratively and to gracefully take direction and edits, and the ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
Qualifications: Strong candidates will demonstrate a proficiency in or strong interest in learning video/video-editing, podcast recording/editing, and photography/photo-editing; excellent written communication skills; the ability to professionally interact with IU administrators, faculty staff, visitors, students, and alums; attention to detail and deadlines; and the ability to write, interview and shoot for different audiences. Candidates without specific previous experience will be considered for training if they possess the personality, organization, and positivity essential to working on this creative team.
