- Marketing/promotions
Issues
- Post-exception period
- These are looking to be distinctive IUB offerings, so the assumption is that there will be no forced collaboration
- Marketing inwards
- How to get faculty interested and involved
- Intellectual Property of Course Content created by faculty
- Pay for content development is distinct from regular instructional materials developed by a faculty member for their course
- Who owns content? IU only, faculty only, both? Faculty are paid to produce content during the course of employment.
- No “one size fits all”
- Marketing outwards
- Engage IU Studios on branding
- Pricing: Online rates versus the current Res/ Non-Res rates
- Research needed to inform competitive pricing of the online programs. May have policy implications.
- Support for technology and access from different countries
- Post-exception period
Suggestions for needed investments in IU wide resources to support high quality online programs (e.g marketing, instructional design support, etc.)
- Acquisition and continued development of sufficient systems to ensure the broadest availability of accessible library and information resources.
- Robust development of, and incentives for the integration of open, affordable educational resources and textbooks across the curriculum.
Suggestions for possible needed future policy changes to support economically competitive (and high quality) online programming within units
International concerns
- Country-specific ministerial prohibitions upon or regulations pertaining to degree and/or course delivery online
- Development of resource guide for program offerings in specific countries. This is an evolving space, and will require any resources to be maintained and regularly updated.
- Scale of project is being determined by OIS; research with AACRAO has started.
- Credential evaluation support will be provided by OIS through the admission process to fully online programs. This process will not vary significantly from current processes.
- Country-specific ministerial prohibitions upon or regulations pertaining to degree and/or course delivery online
Ongoing cross-campus group to continue coordination and sharing of best practices, best start is probably graduate associate deans
