As director of Indiana University’s Campus Writing Program, Laura Plummer regularly consults with faculty and administers IU’s writing center. At the request of the School of Education and the College of Arts and Sciences, Laura launched the weekly Women Faculty Writing Groups in 2013.
The groups are designed to support the research of the participating faculty, most of whom are early in their tenure career or in their post-tenure career. Tessa Bent, associate professor in Speech and Hearing Sciences in the College, said each three-hour session begins with setting a goal for the writing session. “It’s been one of the programs that has helped the most with my productivity, particularly with writing,” said Bent, who was recently tenured. "I think having this dedicated time will really help with achieving that next role in my career, promotion to full professor.”
