Indiana University Bloomington sophomore Keon Brown, a criminal justice major in the College of Arts and Sciences, has found a home in the Groups Scholars Program and at IU, where he joined the cadet program and applied for the Swahili Flagship Center. When his brother was killed during Brown’s first semester of college, he considered dropping out of school.
"(Groups director) Mary Tourner called my phone every day and said, 'you’re coming back. Is there anything I can do?' It’s always good to have support from your family, but having the Groups program… it felt like that home away from home," said Brown, who hopes to one day become an FBI agent. "I’m so happy to see him flourish," Tourner said.
