Lia Bobay, a sophomore at IU Bloomington, is pursuing a degree in environmental science through the School of Public and Environmental Affairs. Currently, Bobay is researching the impact of winter weather variation on the migration of dark-eyed juncos.
Bobay's work to study these birds is facilitated by the 2020 Sustainability Scholars program. The IU Office of Sustainability launched the 2020 Sustainability Scholars program in collaboration with the Integrated Program in the Environment and the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education. The program, which is modeled after a successful program in IU's Center of Excellence for Women in Technology, aims to provide high-quality research experiences for 15 freshmen and sophomores in the area of sustainability.
Bobay is mentored by Adam Fudickar, research associate in the Department of Biology.
