This year marks the 30th anniversary of the first observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day as a U.S. federal holiday. The theme for IU Bloomington’s celebration is “A Call to All” and will include a leadership breakfast, student volunteer opportunities, discussions on diversity and King’s legacy, and several other activities.
“It’s important that everyone gets involved on MLK Day,” said Diamond Turner, a sophomore studying community health in the School of Public Health. “I choose to be involved because it shows honor and support for those who were here before us and made the change for now.”
