This summer, four Hoosier athletes traveled to rural Vietnam for three weeks to teach and coach local children. Athletes Mollie Getzfread (field hockey), Courtney Harnish (volleyball), Derrick Morgan (track and field) and Kayleigh Steigerwalt (soccer), traveled as representatives of Coach for College, a program that uses athletics to help motivate children to pursue higher education while developing leadership skills, learning in the classroom and playing sports.
“My two biggest passions are biology and sports,” said Getzfread, a senior biology major in the College of Arts and Sciences. “It was an incredible opportunity to be able to teach biology and to teach sports to kids. If I had the chance to do it again, I would 100 percent do it.”
