MARS is an all-male peer education group at IU Bloomington that strives to engage and educate men about the issues of rape and sexual assault. Currently, the group consists of more than 300 men, most of whom are part of Interfraternity Council chapters on campus. Members of MARS receive training from IU’s Sexual Assault Crisis Service, university counselors and officials, and other experts in the field of sexual assault prevention and response. MARS is working to build a culture of accountability on campus, empowering members to step up when they see a questionable situation occurring, encouraging proactivity in preventing sexual assaults, and opening up a campus dialogue about these issues.
