As the summer weather swells in Bloomington, colleagues across campus are diving into implementation of the IUB 2030 strategic plan.
The plan’s Executive Leadership Team – or ELT 2030, as we’re calling it – gathered for their initial charge meeting last week to commence development of a plan for the implementation structure. For this effort, think Gantt chart — prioritizing goals, developing planned timelines and milestones for each pillar, and identifying key projects to advance.
The ELT will convene in several extended time blocks together over the next few weeks to advance this foundational work, with the hope of completing and reviewing the proposed gameplan with faculty, campus, and university leaders in time for the fall semester.
Once fall begins, the ELT 2030 will drive collaboration with the BFC, academic units, administrative offices, the Bloomington Staff Council, student groups, and community partners to create operational teams around each goal or objective to move the work forward. In this phase, we will need broad participation from across campus, including from many who were part of the earlier planning working groups, to see our bold ideas come to life.
The ELT will also drive transparency and communication, developing metrics and key performance indicators that can be reported through the IUB 2030 website.
I and other campus leaders will remain closely engaged throughout the implementation process — supporting the ELT 2030 and the various initiative teams while allowing them the space to determine the processes that will best serve them, and ultimately, the IU Bloomington community.
The implementation work this summer advances alongside sustained progress on several related initiatives, from improving the Hutton Honors College and renovating labs to strengthening our partnership with NSWC Crane and supporting innovation and entrepreneurship like never before.
It continues to be a busy summer, and one that I know will position us for even greater heights.
