Provost's priorities
Supporting students through every stage
Empowering every student at IUB to be successful is a cornerstone of the IUB 2030 plan. The academic advising structure is being transformed, with academic advising required of all undergraduate students each semester. To help create a premier and thriving student experience, we have recently launched the Office of Student Life. Through the new Crimson Course Transformation initiative, we are laser-focused on improving outcomes in classes with high rates of students receiving a D, F, or withdrawal.
Encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation
Aligned with all three pillars of the IUB 2030 strategic plan, IU Innovates is a holistic, university-wide initiative that integrates support for students, faculty, and staff in the creation and growth of startup ventures, ensuring they know where to start and can access the resources they need at the right time.
Creating cutting-edge teaching and research spaces
Major renovation initiatives are underway in order to modernize and transform research and teaching spaces on campus. The Board of Trustees approved $45 million in research construction and renovations for IUB, allowing us to strengthen our leadership in biosciences, microelectronics, and nanotechnology. Through Project Inspire, IUB is dedicating up to $5 million per year to enhance campus learning spaces in support of student and faculty success.
Accelerating excellence for faculty and students
IU Bloomington's academic mission is at the core of all that we do. The Faculty 100 initiative aims to amplify our success in core research areas and ensure our campus thrives well into the future. We are also committed to expanding opportunities for students to maximize their academic efforts, including enabling students to complete both a bachelor's and master's degree in five years with our Accelerated Master's Programs (AMP IU).
Contributing to our community
A commitment to increasing our impact in our state and community is an integral part of the strategic plan. The Center for Rural Engagement (CRE) fosters meaningful engagement between our campus and local communities. IU's partnership with Crane, as well as the Trades District and innovation community in Bloomington, will create tremendous opportunities in our region and beyond. Our renewed focus on career development for both undergraduate and graduate students will ensure our students are prepared to be successful and make meaningful contributions to society.
