Vice Provost for Graduate Education and Health Sciences

David Daleke

David Daleke has served as Vice Provost for Graduate Education and Health Sciences at Indiana University Bloomington since 2013. He Chairs the Bloomington Health Sciences Council, which supported the development and creation of the Regional Academic Health Center.

Daleke has served as Associate Dean of the University Graduate School since 2005. On the graduate education side of his portfolio, he co-Chairs the Bloomington Campus Curriculum Committee and manages curricular affairs, academic program development, and review; international recruiting; diversity and inclusion efforts; graduate fellowships; data collection and reporting; office operations; student degree progress recording; and graduate student and postdoctoral fellow professional development for the Bloomington campus. He is responsible for all graduate programs and postdoctoral fellows, as well as undergraduate and graduate health sciences programs at IU Bloomington. 

Daleke’s research interests are in the structure and function of biological membranes. His studies have been supported by awards from the National Institutes of Health, the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, the Juvenile Diabetes Association, and the American Cancer Society. He has been recognized with a Career Development Award by the American Heart Association and has served on numerous editorial boards, including the Journal of Biological Chemistry, Molecular Pharmaceutics, and BMC Biochemistry. 

Daleke received his B.S. in Chemistry and Biology in 1979 and his Ph.D. in Biophysical Chemistry in 1986, both from Stanford University. Prior to joining IU in 1988, he conducted research as an American Cancer Society Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California at San Francisco.
