I was thrilled to support President Whitten earlier this week in introducing a bold vision for IU and the Bloomington campus — an ambitious, actionable strategic plan, IUB 2030 — to guide our work for the next seven years and far beyond.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who contributed to the creation of IUB 2030, constructing detailed reports and dedicating precious time and energy with the understanding that this investment will yield powerful results. Please know the research you conducted, the complex conversations you worked through, and the strategies you carefully designed will continue to inform every decision.
Much like you, I am eager to develop and embark on a robust plan for implementation. We will have more to share on the teams we are building and the paths we will take to accomplish our goals and realize our aspirations together. I value the abundant ideas that emerged throughout the development of our plan, including those in the “parking lot,” and all will be shared directly with our implementation teams.
As we move into IU’s third century, we have a long and proud history of diligent research, learning, and service on which to build our future and meet the incredible opportunities ahead. The launch of our plan provides an invigorating new call to take creative risk and innovate like never before, while trusting our process and each other.
With the recent launch of initiatives like Accelerating Imagination and Faculty 100, multifaceted collaborations like the IU accelerated masters program, and developments to promote student success, our efforts are already getting underway. I am excited to see how these new efforts take shape and begin to positively impact our campus and community.
Thank you for all you have done so far, and I cannot wait to take our bold next steps together as an IUB community for the betterment of our campus and world.
